Claw Scratches PRINCIPALS

Dear Parents,

In consultation with officials at the Weber-Morgan Health Department, Roy High School will be closed beginning tomorrow. All instruction will be moved online for the next two weeks. The School Soft Closure will extend through Tuesday, October 27th. School will resume with in-person instruction on Wednesday, October 28th. This soft closure is in response to an outbreak of COVID-19 at the school.

Your student will receive additional instruction from their teachers during this time. In order to allow our teachers time to prepare for the 7 days of online learning Wednesday, October 14th will be a teacher preparation day.

It appears the outbreak is associated with multiple classrooms which have been affected. Currently, 15 or more students have tested positive for COVID-19 within the past two weeks. According to the Utah Department Of Health School Manual, an outbreak is defined when, "15 people tested positive for COVID-19 across multiple settings in the school (more than one classroom) and are connected by the same time period…" For example, "15 students and teachers in different classes in the school test positive within 2 weeks of each other." Individuals who test positive must isolate and anyone exposed will be instructed to quarantine for 14 days. If your child has been exposed, you will be notified by someone at the school regarding the quarantine requirements.

During the closure, the building will be disinfected and sanitized according to our Safe Weber Framework.

We will continue to work closely with officials from the Weber Morgan Health Department in monitoring this situation and we will provide updates as needed.

We would like to remind everyone to continue to be vigilant in following current health guidelines by wearing face coverings, practicing good hygiene and physically distancing from others to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
