Fred Fernandes, Coach of the Year

Fred Fernandes guided Roy to a third-place finish in Region 1 and the school’s first road playoff victory since 1981. Against heavily-favored Lone Peak in the quarterfinals, Roy forced turnover after turnover to stay within striking distance, and although the final score ended up looking lopsided, for three quarters it looked like Roy had a legitimate chance at a return trip to Rice-Eccles Stadium.
