Roy High Sophomores Receive Signed Books in Surprise "Book Drop" Event
Weber School District continues to prioritize literacy and student engagement through innovative "book drop" events. On February 26th, Roy High School hosted renowned mystery writer April Henry. After an engaging presentation regarding her writing process and the importance of reading, the entire 10th-grade class was surprised with their own signed copies of Henry’s work.
This initiative, spearheaded by District Library Specialist Amy Hall and Roy High Library Tech Specialist Annette Corry, highlights the district's dedication to putting high-quality literature directly into the hands of students. By connecting students with professional authors, WSD aims to foster a lifelong love of learning and storytelling.

April Henry (author) - LITERACY
We were thrilled to welcome bestselling author April Henry to Roy High for a special book drop with our sophomores. Her creativity, energy, and passion for storytelling sparked excitement about reading and reminded students how powerful a great book can be.
Author visits like this truly matter. National data from the Nation’s Report Card shows that only about 32% of 12th graders are proficient in reading, highlighting the ongoing need to strengthen literacy skills. When students connect with engaging authors and receive books in their hands, we create meaningful momentum toward improving reading confidence and achievement.
We are grateful for this opportunity to support our schoolwide literacy goals and inspire our students to keep turning pages.

HUGE SHOUTOUT to our incredible custodial crew! 🙌✨
We are beyond grateful for Delos Lutz and his amazing team for the pride, care, and dedication they bring to Roy High every single day. Because of you, our school is clean, welcoming, and sharp; a place our students and staff are proud to walk into and a place where learning can truly thrive.
Your work does not go unnoticed. You are the behind-the-scenes heroes who make everything possible. Early mornings, late nights, event set-ups, spills, weather messes, you handle it all with professionalism and heart.
Please take a moment to read the article written by one of our students, Harlen Thomas. It beautifully captures the impact this team has on our school community.
Delos and team — we see you, we appreciate you, and we are so thankful for you!
